The Challenge

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta creates a distinctive and demanding operating environment. Significant visitor numbers arrive within a compact town where narrow streets, road restrictions, multiple venues and an active waterfront all influence how people and resources can move.

With events taking place across dispersed locations, organisers required dependable communications, clear operational oversight and the ability to coordinate teams effectively as demands changed throughout the programme.

The operation also included a high-profile guest visit involving both land and maritime movements, requiring discreet protective-security planning alongside the wider event arrangements.

Our Solution

Tier 1 Solutions delivered an integrated package covering event security, car-parking operations, radio communications and command-and-control support.

The operation was managed through our Tactical Response and Operations Centre, which created a dedicated hub for communications, incident management and operational decision-making. From there, our controller maintained oversight of radio traffic, recorded incidents, coordinated deployments and supported the flow of information between frontline teams, supervisors and event management.

A structured communications network connected personnel working across the event footprint, enabling information and requests for assistance to be received, assessed and directed efficiently.

For the high-profile guest visit, our protective-security team completed advance planning and coordinated the movements of personnel across both land and water. This was delivered discreetly and in close liaison with the relevant organisers and operational teams, allowing the visit to take place safely without detracting from the wider event.

The Outcome

Tier 1 maintained effective operational oversight throughout a challenging programme affected by changing weather, complex logistics and competing demands across multiple locations.
